We Bring Experience

The Florida Keys were a vastly different place when Marathon Lumber and Building Supply was established in 1977. The store’s origins began in a storage facility not far from the current location. The city of Marathon wouldn’t be incorporated for another 20 years, but Dale and Patricia Baker recognized a need for quality building products in the sleepy fishing village. They outgrew their first location with five years before relocating to their current space on 1st Avenue, Gulf between 111th and 113th Streets.

Their daughter Tricia joined the business in 1993 as Marathon experienced a wave of development due to rising popularity of coastal living.

Soon thereafter, the family constructed a lumber storage facility and today the company is the oldest, longest running lumberyard in the Florida Keys. The company has supported a wide variety of civic and community endeavors including the Original Marathon Seafood Festival. Throughout the years, they have played an active role in the community through a number of civic organizations like the Marathon Jaycees, Greater Marathon Chamber of Commerce, Shriners, Moose Lodge, Florida Keys Contractors Association DAV, American Legion, Youth Athletics, Sheriffs Auxiliary, and takes great pride in supporting youth sports and activities.

The beginning of what would become one of the most reliable and well known lumber yards in the Florida keys. Marathon Lumber and Building Supply!
